What happened
2026 Bowman Football is scheduled to release on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, the date Topps lists on its own product pages. Some outlets list a wider retail street date of Friday, October 2, so expect boxes to reach shops across that week. Topps opened pre-orders on Tuesday, September 8, and the Hobby allocation on topps.com sold out during the pre-order window.
This is the first Bowman football product to put NFL players and active college prospects in the same box. Earlier years split the two: a Bowman NFL release on one side, Bowman University for college players on the other, most recently 2025 Bowman University Chrome Football. The 2026 checklist folds both into one product.
The paper base set runs 200 cards, 100 veterans and 100 rookies, with a Chrome version of every card. Alongside it sits a Bowman Prospects set of college players numbered to 201, again in both paper and Chrome. Arch Manning has his first Topps cards here under a new exclusive deal: paper Prospect No. BPP-201, Chrome Prospect No. BCP-201, a Chrome Prospect Autograph (BCPA-AMA), and short-print spots in the Bowman Anime and Bowman GPK college inserts.
Box formats reported so far:
- Hobby: 20 packs of 8 cards, two autographs per box, $289.99 on topps.com.
- Jumbo: 12 packs of 24 cards, four autographs per box.
- Mega: 6 packs of 7 cards for $64.99, with exclusive parallels plus 25-card Mega Rookies and Mega Prospects inserts found only in that format.
- Value: 6 packs of 10 cards for $29.99, no guaranteed hit.
Other chases include Bowman Spotlights, Crystallized, and Etched In Glass variations, each split into separate NFL and college runs, a 30-card Red RC Variation set, and a Red Rookie Redemption program.
Why it matters
Bowman's whole reputation in baseball rests on the 1st Bowman stamp: a player's first Bowman card, issued years before a rookie card exists. Football never had that runway because the college and NFL products were separate lines. Merging them means a quarterback's first Bowman card and his eventual NFL rookie card now live in the same brand, which is the setup that made Bowman Chrome Baseball the prospecting product it is.
- Manning is the obvious headline, but the Prospects checklist covers a full college class, so the second and third tier of that list is where the value discovery happens once the season plays out.

- Topps is in its first full season as the NFL's exclusive card licensee, so this joins 2026 Topps Flagship Football as the early template for how Topps intends to run the football calendar.

Hobby pre-orders are gone at $289.99, so secondary boxes will carry a premium through release week while Manning demand is at its peak. If Manning is the only target, buying the single card after release is almost always cheaper than chasing him through boxes. If you want the whole prospect class, Jumbo's four autographs per box is the better floor. Either way, save the cards you care about from the checklist now so you are ready when listings appear.
